Step 1: Enter the Conservatory

Our process begins in our plant conservatory, a lush space filled with thriving plants that have grown using Beyond Beleaf plant supports.

Step 2: Choosing the Perfect Cutting

We selected a Monstera Aurea cutting rooted in water. Its healthy, white, sprawling roots are ready for potting. Rooting in water helps prepare plants for transfer to soil without stress. 

Step 3: Fill the Segments

Each kit includes 3 segments and 3 bases (4 of each in XS). The segments arrive empty, so fill each one with chunky coco chips, sphagnum moss, or your own mix. We like coco chips because they hold moisture and stay airy. 

Step 4: Assembling the Support

We start by attaching a base to the bottom of the support. This modular design allows you to propagate top cuttings later and repot them using the included second base. As your plant grows you can simply screw on additional segments. 

Step 5: Securing the Support

For proper stability place the base of the first segment firmly at the bottom of your pot. Additionally but not required, we use zip ties to secure the base to a clear pot. Although optional, this step provides extra support while roots develop. As the roots grow, they create "organic stability," naturally anchoring the support.

Step 6: Positioning the Cutting

Next, we placed the Monstera Aurea cutting in the pot alongside the support. Proper positioning is essential for healthy growth, with the roots placed just above the bottom of the pot. 

Step 7: Securing the Plant

Our kits include soft black plant Velcro, which gently secures the plant to the support without damaging the stem. This ensures the plant grows upright and attaches firmly to the support. 

Step 8: Adding Soil

Finally, we added a light soil mix made from recycled newspaper, perlite, coco chips, charcoal, and worm castings. This nutrient-rich blend complements the coco chips in the support, fostering robust root development. 

Step 9: The Finished Product

The Monstera Aurea is now securely potted and ready to thrive, and when it reaches the crown you can screw on an extension instead of replacing the pole. These innovative plant supports provide everything your plant needs for healthy climbing growth.
